Fully Automatic Timing with Linescan Camera Technology

What is Fully Automatic Timing?
FinishLynx differs from other types of results technology because it uses linescan cameras to produce F.A.T. Results accurate to within 1/1000th of a second (or greater). Now that Fully Automatic Timing (F.A.T.) is required by the NFHS and a growing number of state-level athletic organizations, we've seen athletic programs of all sizes making the switch to Lynx.

A linescan image is comprised of a series of incredibly thin individual pictures of the finish line (and whatever happens to be crossing it), placed one after another. As more and more vertical images are pieced together side-by-side, the picture begins to take shape. Click the image for a closer look.

For instance, if it takes an athlete 1 full second for their body to cross the finish line, then it will take 1,000 of these thin vertical images to create their entire body on the photo-finish image. More importantly, each of these tiny vertical slivers is time-stamped - so you can produce results accurate to within 1/1000th of a second. Watch the Linescan Animation demo.

Producing High Quality Photo-Finish Images

Lynx packages contain everything you need to produce ratifiable F.A.T. Results. From the Scholastic Package all the way to the MVP Solution, you can take comfort knowing that the same technology is used at the highest levels of competition across the world. FinishLynx images are not only IAAF-approved, but also a great source of fundraising for track teams and athletic departments.
